James Hong’s career is a testament to Apple's industrial design legacy. During the
iPod project, he pioneered precision stamping technology, seamlessly integrating a
7.6mm aluminum body with anodization. His work on the iMac G4 introduced the
iconic unibody design, now regarded as an industrial design classic. Now, he brings
his relentless pursuit of craftsmanship to Rokid Glasses.
As a smart device that blends fashionable eyewear with AR functionality, Rokid
Glasses integrates numerous complex components. Under James Hong’s guidance,
its internal hardware layout within millimeter-level space will be optimized, enhancing
both structural efficiency and thermal performance.
Beyond manufacturing advancements, Rokid has also formed a deep partnership
with China's premium eyewear brand BOLON. With two decades of expertise in
optical lens and ergonomic design, BOLON has redefined traditional eyewear
structure logic, achieving an ultra-lightweight 49g design. The bionic-inspired frame
ensures optimal pressure distribution across the temple area for enhanced comfort.
Together, Rokid and BOLON have also developed nanometer-grade coating
technology, giving the frame a skin-like texture while offering fingerprint resistance.
The incorporation of a titanium memory alloy frame ensures that the glasses maintain
their original form even after enduring 100,000 folding cycles.
With James Hong’s expertise and BOLON’s craftsmanship, Rokid Glasses is set to
elevate the standards of AR eyewear.
