The official Weibo account of the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance announced
that a new product launch event will be held on April 16 at 2:00 PM. According to the teaser
poster, the event will unveil new HarmonyOS Smart Home and smart glasses products in a
“sneak peek” at 2:00 PM, followed by the launch of new Harmony Intelligent Mobility products
at 2:30 PM. The event will also be live streamed.
Huawei’s HarmonyOS Smart Home encompasses a range of self-developed core devices
such as smart TVs, speakers, routers, and door locks, and integrates a wide variety of
HarmonyOS ecosystem products. It is currently unclear whether the upcoming smart glasses
will be focused on audio functionalities or if they will feature AI-powered visual capabilities
such as photography.
The teaser poster has sparked speculation within the industry. Some insiders believe it is
more likely to be an AI-powered camera glasses product. The term “sneak peek” in the
announcement suggests that the emphasis may be on the smart glasses’ interoperability with
Huawei’s smart home ecosystem—positioning the glasses as a new hub for smart home
control.
The inclusion of smart glasses in the teaser suggests the product carries a certain level of
significance. However, as smart glasses may not yet be ready for a full launch, this event
appears to be more about demonstrating their connectivity with smart home products.
Additionally, smart glasses are well-suited for integration with Harmony Intelligent Mobility
systems, potentially offering users an enhanced driving experience. Xiaomi, for instance, is
preparing to launch an AI smart sunglasses version tailored for users of its smart electric
vehicles.
