On February 27, IDC released the Top 10 Insights on the Chinese Smart Glasses Market in
2025, stating that the smart glasses market is expected to growth rapidly, driven by
innovations in both hardware and software, the rapid development of AI large models, and the further integration of interactive technologies.
IDC defines smart glasses as eyewear products equipped with independent data processing
chips but lacking display functionality. This includes audio glasses (as well as products with
cameras) and smart headsets capable of AR, VR, XR (Extended Reality), and MR (Mixed
Reality) functions.
IDC predicts that smart glasses equipped with cameras or audio will drive the faster
implementation of AI functions in head-worn devices. The accumulation of AI large models in
voice and image recognition will lead to more practical and cost-effective applications for AI in
smart glasses. It is forecasted that the global smart glasses market will ship 12.8 million units
in 2025, a 26% increase from the previous year, with the Chinese market reaching 2.75
million units, representing a 107% growth.
At the same time, the smart glasses market will explore new boundaries in human-computer
interaction, particularly in input methods, and further integrate various wearable devices like
smartwatches, fitness bands, and smart rings into its ecosystem.
The smart glasses market will see dual-track growth, with lightweight glasses and
professional-grade head-mounted display devices expanding simultaneously. The former will
offer a more favorable path for commercialization.
