On December 26, RUNTO released a new report, saying that in 2024, the sales of
AR devices on traditional e-commerce platforms increased every month year-on-
year.
According to online monitoring data from RUNTO, in the fourth quarter, online sales
of AR glasses reached 16,000 and 26,000 units in October and November
respectively, with a sales growth of 40.3% in November, pushing AR's sales share in
the XR (a general term for AR and VR) device market to more than 70% that month.
RUNTO said that the market growth is mainly due to the intensive entry of new
products and the active market strategy of AR brands. Since September, most of the
newly launched products have been iterated along two main lines:
The first is to focus on scenes such as watching movies and games, and tethered
glasses continue to optimize display performance, audio-visual effects, image
processing, etc. Representative products include STARV View, RayNeo Air 3,
XREAL ONE, etc.
The second is to focus on real-time information prompts, and all-in-one glasses
equipped with optical waveguide solutions emphasize the AI interactive function
under the blessing of large models. Representative products include STARV Air2 and
Rokid Glasses.
In addition, the popularity of smart audio glasses is unprecedentedly high. According
to RUNTO, in October and November 2024, the sales of smart audio glasses on
traditional mainstream e-commerce platforms in China were 14,000 and 17,000 units,
respectively, up 23.7% and 12.4% year-on-year.
