Recently, many users discovered that after Wechat launched its AI Search feature,
it began integrating the Deep Thinking service powered by DeepSeek-R1.

On February 16, Tencent confirmed that WeChat’s search function has officially
started a gray-scale test with DeepSeek. Users who are part of the test can see the
AI Search option at the top of the search box in the chat interface. By clicking on it,
they can use the full version of the DeepSeek-R1 model for free.
The AI Search feature is located in the search bar at the top of the WeChat
homepage. When users click on it, they will see the AI Search option. Since its in
the gray-scale testing phase, only a selected group of users can access it. After
entering a query in the AI search bar, users can choose the Deep Thinking option,
which uses the DeepSeek-R1 model to provide more comprehensive answers,
offering detailed responses beyond the Quick Answer feature.
Why did WeChat decide to integrate a large model into its search feature? Tencent
explained that large models can enhance search intelligence and accuracy, such as
better understanding users' search intentions and analyzing and handling complex
queries.
